Pig blood, pea flower tea, and shishito pepper stems - 2024
Shishito pepper stems from our current short rib sauce have been on the mind for a while. They turned out to be an incredible art material. Instead of the cheesecloth technique I’ve been using of late, I brought back the tilted canvas one. Somehow every stem stayed in its place even as the pigment ran down.
Sometimes when I incorporate one geometric element to stand out among the chaos, I can’t decide which way to orient the piece. This canvas provides options considering I like all of its rotations.
