Pig blood, squid ink, ice & burlap - 2024
This one has about five layers or so because they kept yielding unfavorable results. Finally, the heavily textured burlap coupled with the staining power of pig blood changed the course of this piece for the better.
Lots of different ice blocks were melted during the few weeks of production and I think their intertwined paths make for a captivating result. That unevenness next to the thick line (created by overlapping burlap) and thin lines (created by tape) creates a nice visual balance.
